Theodor Litt Schule DE
As many as four educational establishments are benefiting from the construction of the new sports hall in Michelstadt for which Loewer + Partner Architekten are responsible. A modern new build arose on an area of 1700 m² thanks to resources from the Hessian business activity support programme. In addition to the sports hall at the Theodor-Litt-Schule, the firm has admitted to the underground part. A tunnel that lets natural daylight in links the two buildings. The new build, which has been constructed in accordance with BSH joining standards and a light room height of seven metres has been designed as a three-pitch hall: The hall can soon be divided using curtains, and young and old enthuse about the permanent climbing wall installation.
The highlight of the hall is the deep black DLW Sport linoleum. The architects opted very consciously for the floor solution with Linodur Sport in sporty black. The colourful pitch markings are shown to the best of their advantage and are visually separate from one another – which is important, as many different types of sport are performed in the thirds of the hall. It also creates a contrast to the light wooden panelling and exposed concrete parts in the hall walls and ceiling.
Sports floor specialist SBS Sportböden-Systeme GmbH was responsible for reconstructing the floor. The surface elastic sprung floor consists entirely of a plywood structure and has been tested in accordance with the DIN V 18 032 part 2 specifications on sports and protective functional requirements. “By using plywood, a higher elasticity is achieved whilst simultaneously improving stability”, explains Rüdiger Abel, sales manager at SBS. Linodur Sport is the ideal top surface for school and recreational sports. With its non-slip surface, it provides a firm grip, and with a thickness of 4 mm, it is extremely robust and long-lasting. As the only elastic sports flooring, linoleum by DLW Sports consists of predominantly natural renewable raw materials and is marked with the Blue Angel symbol.
